The holidays are a time when the Green Beret Foundation likes to highlight the strength and devotion of the U.S. Army Special Forces as they serve their country — especially those who are serving away from home. The piece was also to serve as an appeal to the organization’s generous supporters to help bolster their programs financially during the “season of giving”.


The Green Beret Holiday card featured a festive design to celebrate the season that simultaneously reflected the overall aesthetic of the foundation through color and imagery. The holiday card also included a thank you message from a Green Beret soldier that received assistance from the foundation, as well as a moral boosting message from the organization’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, promising to uphold their commitment to serving Green Berets.

Another feature of the holiday piece was a map of where U.S. Army Special Forces soldiers were currently deployed around the world, and sent well wishes for those who could not be home for the holidays.

To make donating to the organization even more convenient, a donation card and return envelope were also included.

The results of the campaign, as well as the data containing donations received through last year’s holiday card, were shared with us by the Green Beret Foundation a few months after the campaign was mailed.

The results from the Holiday Mailer are as follows:

Amount Spent on 2017 Holiday Appeal: $7,223.29
Donations from 2017 Holiday Appeal: $44,847.99
Total Profit: $37,624.70
Donations from 2016 Holiday Appeal: $33,147.95

Difference in Donations from 2016-2017: $11,700.04

The holidays are a time when the Green Beret Foundation likes to highlight the strength and devotion of the U.S. Army Special Forces as they serve their country — especially those who are serving away from home. The piece was also to serve as an appeal to the organization’s generous supporters to help bolster their programs financially during the “season of giving”.


Through the use of vivid imagery from the field, recipients of the end of year appeal could see the significance of their donations to the Green Beret Foundation firsthand. The appeal was organized into easy to digest sections in a tri-fold format of an atypical size to help pique interest in the piece. Infographics, including an excerpt from the foundation’s annual report, provided insight to how past and future donations are implemented by the organization. A perforated detachable donation card and return envelope made providing support easy and convenient. As an added personal touch, the piece also included an insert of a note written from the Green Beret Foundation’s executive director to appeal to supporters.

In the months following the campaign, we received results from the Green Beret Foundation containing donation amounts collected from the 2017 end of year appeal, as well as donations from the previous year’s 2016 appeal for comparison.

The results are as follows:

Amount Spent on 2017 Year-End Appeal: $6,259.45
Donations from 2017 Year-End Appeal: $36,692.86
Total Profit: $30,433.41
Donations from 2016 Year-End Appeal: $13,085

Difference in Donations from 2016-2017: $23,607.86

Coupled with the year-end Appeal, the Green Beret Foundation raised a total of $81,180.85 in donations, compared to the previous year’s $46,232.95 total.
